The retreat experience is intended as an effective means of evangelization and spiritual development of both faculty and students. The principal or elementary school religion coordinator as applicable, determines the type and number of retreat experiences that best meet the needs of the particular school community.

At least one full-day retreat for the faculty is to be calendared each year in a location conducive to prayer and reflection. Annual retreats for eighth graders is also to be calendared. Elementary schools may provide a variety of retreat experiences for all students. Eighth grade retreats may be at the beginning of the school year, at then end or both.

At St. Catherine Labouré School, in addition to the whole day eighth grade retreat held each year, seventh grade attends a full day retreat and third through sixth grade a half day retreat.  Second grade students, and also any older students, preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist attend a half day Reconciliation Retreat and a half day Eucharist Retreat.
