Faculty In-Service Days and Faculty/Staff Retreat Days

The school calendar includes a minimum of three faculty in-service days and one faculty/staff retreat day in excess of the 180 days for student instruction.

The faculty in-service days and faculty/staff retreat days may be used to contribute to professional development. In-service days sponsored by the Department of Catholic Schools, outside agencies, or by the local schools are related to curriculum, instruction, assessments, and catechetical formation.

Faculty/staff retreat days are designated to allow the school staff to explore their faith in greater depth and spiritually renew themselves for their ministry in the school.

Faculty in-service days shall fulfill the following conditions:

  • All full-time faculty members attend; all students are absent.

  • The schedule of the in-service program corresponds with the length of a full day of instruction.

  • In-service days are recorded in the student attendance register as "Professional In-Service."

  • Proof of attendance is included in the faculty personnel files.
