Closed Campus Policy

For the safety of our children, our school is a closed campus. No parent or visitor may be present without first signing in at the school office and receiving a visitor’s badge. If you see a stranger on campus without a visitor’s badge, report it to the school office immediately. Students are never allowed to engage in conversation with strangers through the fence. Students have also been taught that for the health and safety of all persons on campus, they are NEVER allowed to open a gate for anyone. All visitors must call the office from the pass through gate intercom and be identified by office personnel prior to entering the school grounds. Once inside, all visitors must go directly to the school office. If arrangements have been made and the student is to be picked up, the parent or legal guardian must present him- or herself to the school office (not to the teacher in the classroom) before the student is released. If someone other than the parent or guardian is picking up the student, he or she must be listed on the Student Emergency Contact Form. A driver’s license will be required for verification.

Parent/Visitor Sign-in Procedure

For the safety of our students and to help faculty/staff identify all persons on campus in the event of an emergency, all visitors MUST sign-in and out at the school office. All visitors (during school hours) must wear an OLR Visitor’s Badge in a place that is visible for faculty, staff and students to see. Parents are asked to respect the preparation and instructional time of the teachers and not visit the classroom teacher without a scheduled appointment. Classrooms are not to be disrupted for any reason while class is in session. If you wish to schedule an appointment with the teacher please send a written request, phone the school office or contact the teacher via e-mail through SchoolSpeak.

Gates

The main gates are closed and locked after all parishioners attending 8 am Mass have left the parking lot (approximately 8:35 am). If you are visiting the school in the morning and your stay will keep you past 8:35 am, please park on the street so that the gates can be locked and the premises secured. During school hours, TK parents may access the TK classroom by using the Stearns Pass-Through Gate. There is minimal parking available near the rectory and some street parking available. All other visitors must park on Los Coyotes Diagonal and enter and exit through the Los Coyotes Pass-Through Gate. It has been a long-standing school policy that students are not allowed to open the gates for ANYONE (this includes priests, teachers, faculty, parents, etc.). Please make sure that your child is aware of this policy and its importance to the health and safety of everyone at OLR.
