Emergency Cards

Each family must have on file in the office an emergency card (updated yearly). In the event of sickness or injury, the parents or another person indicated on the emergency card will be called. It is extremely important that parents identify someone who can pick up and care for their child in case of illness or emergency. Please report any change in address, phone number, or information on the emergency card right away. It is imperative that we be able to reach parents or other authorized adult quickly and easily in case of illness or emergency.

Emergency Procedures

In the event of a natural disaster, the faculty of Our Lady of Refuge Catholic School is prepared to care for the students. In compliance with Archdiocesan regulations for disaster emergency procedures, such as earthquakes or fire, parents are asked to observe the following guidelines:

  • Listen to the radio regarding evacuation of the public schools in the area. Refer to the emergency number on the inside cover of this handbook to reach the Emergency outof- area-contact.
  • In the event of an earthquake, BE CALM--DO NOT CALL SCHOOL. (No one will be available in the office as all personnel will be attending to the students.) When it is safe, come to school — park your car away from the school — and WAIT at the Stearns gate for directions from school personnel.
  • If an emergency occurs outside school hours, please listen to your local radio station (KNX 1070) for instructions on school closure. As a general rule, Our Lady of Refuge Catholic School will follow the same procedure as that designated for the public schools in the area.
