Behavioral Expectations:
a. Students should always exhibit positive and appropriate behavior at school. Non-scholarly behavior in school will be
reported and consequences are as follows:
i. Administrators will notify the Athletic Director of all student consequences. Students’ eligibility for game
participation is based on how many consequences were given in the previous week.
ii. If a Student-Athlete receives a Referral Consequence, their coach will be notified and this will be their first
warning. They will be allowed one more Referral for the week before being ineligible for competition in the next
week.
iii. If a Student-Athlete receives a Referral three times in one week (Mon-Fri), or receives a Detention, the
Student-Athlete will be on Athletic Probation in which they are not eligible to participate in games in the
following week.
iv. If a Student-Athlete receives a Suspension, they will be ineligible from competition and not allowed to further
attend practices, games or represent the SCL Sports Team in any way.
**PLEASE NOTE: Unless otherwise indicated, if a student is suspended from participating in a game, they are expected to
still be present at each practice and/or game. If the student chooses to not attend that practice and/or game, that will
count toward an unexcused absence.
Expectations of our Student-Athletes during practices/games:
1. Students are respectful to their coaches and teammates at all times.
2. Students listen to their coaches, are not talking when asked to be listening, are not exhibiting rude behavior and are
following instruction.
3. Students are using positive language and not swearing, name calling or using any words to put down another
teammate or toward the coach.
4. Students are being responsible and safe at all times. Physical roughness, inappropriate use of equipment, or any other
actions that may pose a safety risk to themselves or others will not be tolerated. Should the student-athlete
expectations not be followed during practice the following 3 tier disciplinary action will be taken:
1. Tier 1- Student will be asked by the coach to sit out until they are ready to participate positively and the Coach
determines they are appropriate to come back to practice.
2. Tier 2- If a student is asked to sit out a second time, following practice, the coach will contact the student’s
parent and inform the parent that the student has reached Tier 2 and for what reason.
3. Tier 3- If a student is asked to sit out for a third time, student will be asked to sit out for the duration of the
practice.
4. IF A STUDENT REACHES TIER 3 WITHIN 3 BACK TO BACK PRACTICES, THEY WILL BE SUSPENDED FROM THE
NEXT GAME/COMPETITION.
Expectation of our Student-Athletes for attending practices/games:
1. Students are to attend each practice/game on time and ready to participate. Unexcused tardiness and absenteeism will not
be allowed.
2. Excused tardiness and absenteeism can only come from a school teacher or staff or the child’s parent/guardian and
must be communicated to the coach prior to practice or game.
3. Should the student-athlete expectations not be followed during practice; the following disciplinary action will be taken:
a. If a student has an unexcused tardiness to practice 3 times, they will be suspended from playing in the next
game/competition.
b. If a student has an unexcused absence from practice, they will receive one warning.
c. If a student has an unexcused absence from practice a second time, they will be suspended from playing in the
next game/competition.
d. If a student has an unexcused absence from practice a third time, they will no longer be able to participate on
the team
