​​11.2 Elementary School Curriculum and Instruction

​​​​The pastor and principal at the parish elementary school are responsible for providing a standards-based curriculum that includes the following areas:

• Religion

• English language arts

• Math

• Science

• Social studies

• Fine arts

• Physical education

The offering of additional instructional programs and services is dependent on the available resources and needs of each school.

​A transitional kindergarten (TK) in a Catholic school is part of the kindergarten program. TK is subject to the same guidelines as a private school for kindergarten through eighth grade. In addition, TK must follow an established common curriculum that distinguishes it from a licensed early childhood program and a one-year kindergarten program. TK emphasizes both socio-emotional development and academic readiness and foundations.
