​​The school calendar​ includes a minimum of three faculty in-service days and one faculty/staff retreat day in excess of the 200 days for student instruction.

Purpose

The faculty in-service days and faculty/staff retreat days may be used to contribute to professional development.

In-service days sponsored by the Department of Catholic Schools​, outside agencies, or by the local schools are related to curriculum, instruction, and catechetical formation.

Faculty/staff retreat days are designated to allow the school staff to explore their faith in greater depth and spiritually renew themselves for their work in the school.

Conditions

Faculty in-service days shall fulfill the following conditions:

  • All full-time faculty members attend; all students are absent.

  • The schedule of the in-service program corresponds with the length of a full day
    of instruction.

  • In-service days are recorded in the student attendance register as "Professional In-Service."

  • Proof of attendance is included in the faculty personnel files​.

Faculty/staff retreat days shall fulfill the following condition:

  • They may take place prior to the beginning of the school year and/or in the spring months (i.e., Lenten retreat).
