Unit Plans and Lesson Plans
Teachers should prepare unit plans that include a daily instructional sequence of lesson plans. It is recommended that daily lesson plans include at least three core instructional practices:
- a measurable objective that clearly indicates the content/skill that the students are learning
- a formative assessment utilized during and at the end of the lesson to determine and respond to student needs
- a methodology that provides students with multiple scaffolded opportunities to apply the objective
The principal should regularly review these unit plans and the plans should be available to
substitute teachers. Unit plans are retained at the school site for five years.
