5.4.3 Fingerprinting and Background Checks
Staff are required to complete the fingerprinting process before beginning employment or assignments. Fingerprinting is handled by the Fingerprinting Department of the archdiocese, including scheduling appointments for fingerprinting. See Fingerprinting Policies and Guidelines.
5.4.3.1 Criminal Offender Record Information
In
the archdiocese, only certain persons are designated Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) qualified individuals who receive, process,
store, and act on fingerprint and subsequent arrest records. Access to fingerprint and subsequent arrest records by non-CORI individuals is prohibited.
5.4.3.2 Safe Environment Platform
The Safe Environment Platform (SEP) has been developed by
the archdiocese as a database to enter and confirm clergy, religious,
employee, and volunteer information. Persons engaged in hiring employees are required to check SEP as part of the applicant reference check process.
