​​Parish life directors and pastoral associates must be fingerprinted under the California Education Code and pass a background check. All fingerprints are submitted to the California Department of Justice and the FBI. Fingerprint reports and any subsequent arrest notifications are overseen in accordance with procedures at the locations where the parish life directors and pastoral associates are assigned, unless they are assigned to parish leadership, in which case they will be overseen by the ​vicar f​or clergy​.
