School Calendar
The Department of Catholic Schools annually issues calendar guidelines, which include 180 instructional days, recommended dates to open and close school, holidays and breaks, deadlines, etc. Student instructional days must conform to required time allotments for regular school days, minimum school days, early dismissals, and the last day of the school year. The master calendar provides additional days for faculty in-service training, which must conform to requirements for
faculty in-service days. The principal submits the locally adapted master calendar to the regional superintendent.
If a school wants to modify the master calendar for reasonable cause, the school shall request permission in writing from the
Department of Catholic Schools and include a detailed explanation of the reasons. Otherwise, it will be presumed that the school is following the master calendar as recommended by the Department of Catholic Schools.
Commencement ceremonies are to be scheduled no more than 10 days prior to the end of the school year and may not be scheduled on a Sunday morning.
